We took some friends out yesterday to plant a cache on the lake and while waiting, found a cache with a couple wooden geocoins inside.
On the back side was embossed "Get your own personalized Geocoins at www.airlik.com/geo/coin/.html or at least that is what I think it says. The burned in writing isn't too clear and all the possible url's I type in lead nowhere.
Anyone know where I can get these coins?

Re: Geocoins
Fri, February 18, 2005 - 9:00 PMThere are wooden nickels available at www.TravelerTags.com, and brass geocoins available at www.usageocoins.com and www.geocoins.ca.
It may be that the coin you found was made some time ago and the website is gone now. If you can try to make out the domain name (airlik.com doesn't exist) that would be the place to look. -

Re: Geocoins
Wed, March 9, 2005 - 3:36 PMI finally found a few but they are so expensive...
So I took some poker chips and used the computer to reduce our logo to the size of the recessed part of the chip. Then put our name next and printed them on avary labels.
Cut them out and stuck them to the coins and they work. Not as nice as the laser cut coins but better than the ones made by cutting a broomstick and writing with a pen. -

Re: Geocoins--how used?
Sun, April 30, 2006 - 11:26 AMCan someone clarify how geocoins are used? I assume they are a signature one leaves behind, in a "Kilroy was here" sort of way. Or are they supposed to travel? Or be collected (and who would want to collect them)? Some of them look pretty cool--interesting, nice artwork, whatever--but the function of them isn't clear to me. -

Re: Geocoins--how used?
Wed, May 3, 2006 - 4:55 PMGeocoins travel much like travel bugs. You can buy them to keep, but unfortunately, when you find one in a cache, you have to leave it at another cache. They are very beautiful, but I like the travel bug more. -

Re: Geocoins--how used?
Mon, May 8, 2006 - 11:28 AMWell, if enough people are interested I know people that can produce coins in everything from aluminum to silver, and in pretty much any quantity. Of course the lower the quantity the higher the per unit cost.
We will be producing a large number of coins for our themed resort.
